Horses who have never achieved their full potential is how you could describe most of the contenders here. Soapy Danger and Munsef are top rated but the race is not likely to evolve solely around them however, with Mark Johnson having his horses pretty forward we will side with his contender Soapy Danger. Two seasons back Soapy Danger was a high class three year old, winning the Queen's Vase before an enforced absence meant he only made his racecourse reappearence as a four year old in September last season. His final start of last season was in a French Group 1 over 2m which would initiate worries that this will be on the sharp side. While it is likely to be, connections are likely to make plenty of use of him here. He has proved quite a hard horse to get fit so the market should prove an effective guide of what is expected of this classy individual. Soapy Danger and Munsef clashed at Newmarket in October when Munsef, an unfancied 14/1 shot in that contest stayed on past the better fancied Soapy Danger who in effect set the race up for the remainder. That would be the worry here but Munsef is 4lb worse off and not the most straight forward. The Last Drop, runner up in the 2006 St Leger, has not progressed as was expected but is back to a level at which he can be competitive. He has proved that he does go well fresh and is a big danger to our selection, Soapy Danger.
