Verdict

One of the very best two-year-old races of the entire season and won in the last two years by subsequent Group 1 and Classic scorers High Chaparral and Brian Boru. Aidan O'Brien trains that pair and he will be looking to extend his excellent record in this race with Magritte an Mikado. The former is his first choice and the son of Sadler's Wells looked the business when romping home at Tipperary on heavy going on his only run to date. We'll learn more about him today. The Group 1 Grand Criterium winner American Post will make him pull out all the stops and he looks a very useful middle-distance prospect for next year. Fantastic View displayed a high cruising speed when scoring at Ascot last time and we'll learn more about him too in this much-tougher event. Tahreeb has yet to race beyond six furlongs and showed enough pace last time to finish fourth in the Cornwallis Stakes last times. He should be ok at this trip on breeding and remains interesting. Overall, though, and despite Aidan O'Brien's record in this contest, we'll opt for American Post.
