Alan Swinbank's Lochiel is bound to be popular with backers having won each of his last two starts but they have both been on fast ground and the son of Mind Games is not likely to be at his best on the underfoot conditions this afternoon in a race taken to go to HILLVIEW BOY, who gets the verdict ahead of Ellmau. Ed McMahon's gelding won well enough at Nottingham earlier this month and a 3lb rise for that is perfectly fair so he has to be strongly considered on ground that will suit. Camps Bay has to be respected now that Amanda Perrett has her string in better form but he would probably prefer faster ground and of more interest may be Spring Jim. James Fanshawe's gelding ran better over 1m6f last time on fast ground but he will not be inconvenienced by the shorter trip or the softer surface today and has to be considered. John Best's Howdigo ran well on the Polytrack last time but goes just as well on turf and he ran well the only time that he has encountered testing ground so is another with claims but a better bet looks to be Hillview Boy. Jim Goldie's gelding is a proven performer on a soft surface, ran well at Ayr on his most recent start and looks worth another chance stepping up in trip.
