Cape Vale ran well when chasing home THE NIFTY FOX at Catterick recently but Tim Easterby's gelding should get the better of him again on this softer ground and can defy the 8lb rise for that success, getting the vote over Cheveton. Richard Price's gelding comes into this in good heart following a win at Haydock with a good effort in defeat at York but he may just be a shade high in the weights now. Jim Goldie's Hogmaneigh has disappointed of late but has been given a chance by the handicapper. Matthew Salaman's Rulesn'regulations is less exposed than most of these after just four career starts and could not be in better form having won each of his last three starts but he is unproven on ground this soft so an ability to handle the going has to be taken on trust. Richard Fahey's Quest For Success is probably better over further and of more interest may be Judge 'n Jury, who should appreciate the return to softer ground having disappointed on quick ground here last time. Jeremy Noseda's Waffle is better than he showed at Ascot last time and is another to be considered but preference is for the in-form The Nifty Fox, who can follow up his recent Catterick success on ground that suits.
