Verdict

Leading amateur Simon Walker had the choice of several mounts in this but it's no surprise that he's chosen the three-year-old MARAAKIB, who arrives off the back of a victory at Leicester when Sakhalin Star was a well-beaten third. That was his first try over this trip but it clearly suited and David O'Meara's gelding should be capable of defying his penalty. Redcar winner Rainford Glory is also penalised but is in good form and preferred to August's Chepstow scorer Stanlow. Cape Hideaway has only run once this year so is unexposed but Samsonite has rather lost his way. Clovelly Bay is getting no nearer but Fazza could figure under Catherine Walton back over a more suitable distance.
