In depth

Verdict

Aidan O’Brien has a good record in this and sent over Luxembourg to win last year’s renewal. AUGUSTE RODIN arrives with strong credentials having won a Group 2 contest in soft going over today’s trip at Leopardstown so the Ballydoyle colt gets the vote. Stablemate Salt Lake City should ensure a decent pace but Epictetus encounters soft ground for the first time having gone close in a Group 3 at Newmarket a fortnight ago with Holloway Boy and Dancing Magic behind. Andrew Balding has won this twice in the last eight years and Stormbuster was an impressive winner of a conditions race at Newbury. He’s preferred to the novice winners King Of Steel and Captain Wierzba of the rest.
