In depth

Verdict

Balata Bay always looked in control when landing an ordinary novice stakes at Chepstow last month and should progress again. Dark Thunder looks best of the Dascombe pair, although not seeming to improve on previous starts when a rather low-key fifth of 11 at Chester. He'd previously looked nailed on for a juvenile contest when filling third spot in the Lily Agnes Stakes at the Chester Cup meeting. He is worth another chance but JAMES STREET should prove more than good enough if close to the form displayed on debut when a neck second to Almurr at Newbury. That performance sets the standard and the Gale Force Ten colt should prove tough to beat.
