In depth

Verdict

A wide open affair gets proceedings under way. Chevalier Bayard was a fair third behind Bit O Magic last time out at Musselburgh. He goes on the ground and he should go well but his best form is over slightly longer trips. Dene View is a course winner over two miles and defeated Skinsey Finnegan in the style of an improver. He could still be ahead of the handicapper but his best form has come with cut in the ground. Risky Way was a good second behind Kind Sir last time, that rival has since franked the form and with conditions in his favour he is sure to run his race again. Johnlegood is well weighted on his best form and he was a good second behind Kadito last time. He is from a yard in form and is another for the short list in a wide open affair. Benson is another to consider as he is at his best when he can hear his feet rattling and he will have conditions to suit here. Catchatan is from a yard that is beginning to hit top form after a quiet spell but his best efforts have been on heavy ground. Of the remainder Hi Lily is ultra consistent and could go well off her light weight with the booking of Jim Culloty catching the eye.
