A tricky handicap for punters but SPRING JIM impressed on his comeback after a long lay-off and James Fanshawe's gelding is preferred to Granston and Redesignation. The selection has a 7lb rise in the weights for his recent win over this course and distance, a marvellous training performance having been off the track since September 2005. He was ridden by William Buick then and this promising jockey may be on another winner with trip and ground to suit once again. Granston was second on that occasion and has a 4lb pull in the weights, Mull Of Dubai is dropped in grade having been outclassed in tough handicaps at the end of last year, whilst Alan McCabe does well here so Ellmau needs respect having not been with the yard for long. Redesignation has top-weight to carry but representing a stable in good form and still looking progressive, it is unlikely that we have seen the best of him yet. Princess Taylor was last seen in Listed company at Newmarket but she cannot be overlooked on ground that is ideal, Theocritus is another for consideration on his first start for the yard since coming across from Ireland. Magic Echo is another for the shortlist but it is Spring Jim who can win again.
