James Reveley is an interesting jockey booking for the filly Tombee Du Ciel, placed twice in decent company at Auteuil in the spring. Her stable won this in 2014 and 2017 but she’s no certainty with NAVAJO PASS possibly a shade unlucky not to follow up at Newcastle after scoring at Bangor when conceding a promising newcomer 5lb. Lord Lamington makes a quick reappearance after winning easily at Market Rasen nine days ago but can’t be ignored and makes more appeal than the remaining trio, who are a bit more exposed.
Lord Lamington 11-2 (10-12) Tracked leaders, went narrow 2nd going well 2 out, shaken up after last, quickened to lead flat, driven out, won at Market Rasen 2m 1f (4) sft in Dec beating Zoffee (10-12) by 1l, 14 ran.
Navajo Pass 13-8fav (11-3) Led, hit 3rd and again 3 out, pushed clear before 2 out, 2 lengths advantage last, ridden and kept on when hard pressed flat, headed final strides, 2nd of 5, nk behind Tavus (10-12) at Newcastle 2m (2) hvy in Nov.
Paseo 10-1 (10-10) In touch, went right 2nd, headway chasing leaders 4 out, led on outside approaching 2 out, narrowly headed last, ridden to regain lead run-in, on top towards finish, won at Fontwell 2m 3f hcp (3) sft in Nov beating Now Look At Me (11-9) by 3/4l, 9 ran.
Prefontaine (IRE) 12-1 (10-12) Disputed 2nd, close up 3 out (usual 4 out), driven and lost place after 2 out, soon weakened, tailed off, 7th of 10, dist behind Allmankind (10-12) at Cheltenham 2m (1) sft in Nov.
Robeam (IRE) 7-2 (11-3) Not fluent 1st, tracked leader, pushed along after 4 out, outpaced after next, lost 2nd approaching 2 out, no chance with clear pair between last 2, 3rd of 5, 14 1/4l behind Tavus (10-12) at Newcastle 2m (2) hvy in Nov.
