Ogee gets the vote in a competitive handicap ahead of Whispering Death and Kasthari. Sir Michael Stoute's charge comes here on the back of a decent effort at Chester following a poor run in the Ebor. He can be forgiven that run though when trying a first time visor in such a large field, and is perhaps better judged on his Goodwood win for today's jockey back in July. He has proven adept on any ground and can land this less competitive race. Whispering Death would be a danger based on his last two outings but the feeling is that he needs further than this trip before he will win, so of more interest may be 2004 Lonsdale Cup winner Kasthari who can build on a good second when last seen and may be capable of gaining his first win of the season. Bulwark needs a strong pace and ideally a longer trip, whilst top German trainer Peter Schiergen saddles El Tango. He was a very creditable sixth in the Ebor and therefore must be rated a serious threat. At a price Chester Cup winner Greenwich Meantime could go well as he is better than his recent runs suggest, however Ogee is fancied to score.
