      Verdict

      Trade Storm found a nice turn of foot to beat Strictly Silver over a mile at York and has nothing to fear from Sandagiyr on that run but he's only raced over this longer trip once before, on Polytrack, so still has questions to answer. Specific Gravity was a useful three-year-old and won easily at Newmarket last month. He could improve further while Spanish Duke has been showing signs of a revival and wasn't beaten far when fourth in a hot handicap at York last time. He beat Resurge at Epsom last year. BLACK SPIRIT hasn't won for more than two years and never beyond a mile but his half-length second to Gatewood over 1m2f at Ascot in June, when conceding 2lb, is excellent handicap form and he went very close over C&D at this meeting 12 months ago. Clive Cox' charge can notch a rare success.

      Spanish Duke (IRE) 16-1 (9-7) Held up in mid-division, headway over 3f out, not clear run and switched sharply left over 1f out, ran on inside final furlong, nearest finish, 4th of 16, 3 1/2l behind Danadana (10-0) at York 1m 2f hcp 105 (2) gf in Aug.
