Verdict

A decent contest with last years winner Tough Speed attempting to follow up. Without a win since beating China Visit in this event last year, he has turned in several decent efforts in defeat and will not go down without a fight. However, he faces a useful rival in the shape of Desert Deer, who could well have an easy lead here and if that is the case, he will take plenty of pegging back. Duck Row, fifth in this race last year, is a useful performer, but he is held by Tough Speed, while the mare Golden Silca has been lacking consistency this term. Both Pulau Tioman and Calcutta are more than useful, but neither should be good enough to trouble the front two on these terms.
