Verdict

Only one filly has won the final classic of the season in 30 years but she was trained by Ralph Beckett, who runs the unbeaten Haskoy. Frankie takes over the reins on the daughter of Golden Horn, who did well to land a Listed race at York on her second start from an uncompromising position. Irish Oaks fourth Emily Dickinson and Lizzie Jean also represent the fairer sex but the colts are expected to hold sway again. Eldar Eldarov has already proved his stamina by winning the Queen’s Vase at Ascot. He got outpaced in a Group 1 over 1m4f at Longchamp next time and will relish a return to the longer trip. However, NEW LONDON’s win in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood could not have worked out much better. Third Hoo Ya Mal was only beaten a couple of lengths and his rider dropped his whip but it will be a surprise if the placings are reversed. Irish Derby third French Claim looks the pick of the remainder.
