A rather sub-standard renewal of this historic Group 2 stayers race with Simenon the top-rated entry. Willie Mullins has done well in this type of contest in the UK this year but his eight-year-old has been looking a light of former days and Clondaw Warrior looks the stable's number one with Frankie on board. He disappointed when favourite for the Ebor, however, and Fun Mac, a late withdrawal at York, has every chance of reversing Royal Ascot running with him on better terms. Times Up, the winner in 2012 and 2013, is another who may have seen better days but Kalann was third in this last year and Pallasator has claims on his fourth in the Goodwood Cup. SUEGIOO finished ahead of the disappointing Havana Beat at Sandown in July and has been performing with credit under big weights in tough handicaps all season. As a former Chester Cup winner, he'll relish the longer trip here and could be the value ahead of another upgraded handicapper Seamour.
