Verdict

It's hardly original but REWILDING looks the class-act and can stride away from his rivals now upped in trip. Godolphin often target this race and this Great Voltigeur winner is the deserving favourite. That recognised St Leger trial has provided three of the last nine winners of this race and the way that this colt ran on to the line (having needed to be scrubbed along after a mile) suggests that he can take this renewal. Theology looks overpriced; he didn't seem to handle Goodwood in July, despite having won there previously, and he is a strong stayer for whom any further rain will suit. The filly Snow Fairy wouldn't want rain but the dual Oaks heroine is a welcome addition to the line-up and she should see out the trip. Midas Touch and Joshua Tree were second and third at York, both fine efforts considering the former raced up with a strong pace under a 3lb penalty, and the latter was returning from almost a year off the track. Dandino is the people's favourite but has something to find, and a bigger threat may be Arctic Cosmos who caught the eye with his finishing effort at Goodwood (a place behind Dandino) and he has worked well at home in blinkers.
