    Verdict

Cliff was only beaten half-a-length behind Red Paladin, who won this last year, over a mile here last time and has solid each-way claims again. Captain Marmalade is capable of improving on his victory over 6f at Chepstow while Woody Bay won at Newcastle last month, though was only fourth subsequently at Carlisle and has been raised a further 2lb since. SAKHALIN STAR is only 4lb higher than when winning over track and trip in May of last year and Jacob Butterfield claims back most of that. He's been most consistent this year and is due another success. Clubland may be best of the rest.
