Verdict

It will be interesting to see how the market speaks about a few of these. But Librettist left a lasting impression on his debut and is selected over Camacho and Motarssed, who are fancied to give him the most to do. The last named - a well-bred type that improved on his debut to comfortably win a Salisbury maiden - deserves his place in the line up and there looks to be plenty more to come from him. His trainer John Dunlop, won this race with a similar type of horse last year and he is a sound alternative to the selection at the likely prices. Camacho, who held a lofty reputation before getting off the mark on his solitary start to date, holds some high-class entries and should make a bold bid to enhance his profile this afternoon. However, like Le Corvee, holes can be picked in his form and he may be vulnerable to a more precocious type. Which, if the recent evidence of Godolphin's two-year-olds is anything to go by, could easily be presented in the form of Librettist, who looked to be something special when he won a hot at Newmarket maiden on his first start. That race has already produced three subsequent winners and reads very well on the evidence available. It also has to be considered significant that this half-brother to Dubai Destination had the Champagne Stakes as an option to him later in the week, which suggest that Librettist is one of few cards that Godolphin have up their sleeve for a meeting that has been good to them over the years.
