First-time blinkers are applied to Doncaster Rover who is the highest rated in this race and in with every chance if finding the pick of his ability. Mac's Power has course form and may be worth considering each-way, but on official ratings he needs to find plenty more. Richard Hughes is a notable booking on Croisultan, whilst Paul Hanagan is on Kaldoun Kingdom. Both horses have little recent form to go on but the consistent Tax Free could be some value as he often delivers a good run and he only found the smart Tangerine Trees too good last time. Fullandby is bang out of form and it is hard to fancy him to repeat his success after winning this race last year. Icelandic won this two years ago but has dropped down the ratings since and his last win may have been more to do with it being a career low mark than a return to his finest form. Hitchens won the Mercury Stakes over five furlongs at Dundalk last time and handles six furlongs equally well, but the conditions are against him as he loves faster ground. Angel's Pursuit is another who would prefer the ground to be firmer but is officially rated as the one to beat in the race. However our vote goes to INLER for Brian Meehan. The trainer has a 27% record at the course this year and Kieren Fallon was in the plate when winning a conditions event here on board the selection last time out. Although the draw may be a negative, he didn't have the best of starts here most recently but still managed to emerge victorious. It's a marginal call but Inler is the preferred choice.
