Glass Office was due to take his chance in yesterday’s King George Stakes at Goodwood and has no form on ground this soft. Three-year-olds have won a couple of times in recent years and Global Applause is not without a chance, though wouldn’t want any more rain. The same comment applies to Gifted Master but MATTMU wouldn’t be inconvenienced and, though slightly disappointing so far this season, is getting a handy 7lb from likely favourite and top-rated Mr Lupton if Rachel Richardson’s claim is taken into account.
Mr Lupton (IRE) 66-1 (9-6) Held up in rear, never involved, 9th of 10, 5 1/4l behind Harry Angel (9-0) at Newmarket 6f Grp 1 stks (1) gf in Jul.
Gifted Master (IRE) 8-1 (9-7) Led, joined 2f out, soon headed, chased leaders, weakened over 1f out, 7th of 10, 9l behind Magical Memory (9-7) at Newbury 6f Grp 3 stks (1) sft in Jul.
Mattmu 20-1 (9-3) Chased leaders, pushed along over 2f out, ridden and weakened over 1f out, last of 9, 9 1/2l behind Twilight Son (9-3) at Ascot 6f Grp 1 stks (1) gs in Jun.
Global Applause 3-1 (9-1) Steadied and slightly hampered start, held up in last pair, headawy far side 2f out, chased leaders over 1f out, ridden and one pace in 3rd inside final furlong, 3rd of 7, 2 3/4l behind Harry Angel (9-1) at Newbury 6f Grp 2 stks (1) gs in Sep.
Glass Office 20-1 (9-5) Mid-division, headway over 1f out, ran on closing stages, 4th of 10, 2 1/4l behind Eqtiraan (8-12) at Salisbury 6f lst stks (1) gf in Jun.
