In depth

Verdict

In this Conditions Stakes race, we will side with Brecon Beacon, but you can build a case for just about all of his rivals. Brecon Beacon has proven himself a decent performer on both the all-weather and Turf, the pick of which is probably his second to Party Boss in a Listed race at Lingfield last time. He holds very solid claims here and, as such, and despite the fact that he has to concede weight to the field, gets the vote. Coming from maiden wins, Chrysander and Centaurus rate as interesting prospects, while Jalamid has long been considered a decent horse by connections and he looked ahead of the handicapper when scoring at Newbury last time. Today's race is a different kettle of fish, and on different going also, but he too rates as an interesting prospect. Stagbury Hill has been pitched in at some deep ends to date and has not fared too badly, so grant him respect, while Real Quality won his maiden well enough but needs to find improvement to score. Once again then, in what is an interesting contest, we will side with Brecon Beacon.
