Jim Bolger has won four of the last six so Mesmerism, a half-brother to Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense, would have found 7f too short on his debut at Cork and has to be respected. Ashraf is in the Irish Derby which isn't a surprise given his superb pedigree and he made a very encouraging debut over 7f on fast ground here in September. Appeared is another superbly-bred colt who caught the eye in no uncertain terms behind Royal Navy Ship here in October. He should do even better when stepped up in trip and was a couple of lengths behind JACOBEAN, who finished runner-up behind his stablemate after running very green. He was fancied for the Racing Post Trophy on his next start but again looked very inexperienced and entries in all the classics suggest he's still held in high regard.
