Verdict

Poetic Flare went to Leopardstown for the 2,000 Guineas Trial and scored with a bit in hand before landing the Newmarket classic on fast ground with Lucky Vega a neck behind and the Ballydoyle trio Van Gogh, Wembley and Battleground well beaten. Jim Bolger's charge didn't perform as well in the French version last weekend and Lucky Vega may be capable of reversing the form in today's conditions while Wembley, runner-up to St Mark's Basilica in the Dewhurst, finished almost last at Newmarket and obviously didn't show his form. Godolphin send over LA BARROSA and his narrow defeat by stable companion Master Of The Seas in the Craven Stakes was given a major boost when the winner was beaten a short-head in the Newmarket classic so he's taken to go one better and land this for the raiders. Doncaster Futurity winner Mac Swiney will be better for his run at Leopardstown and can get involved, especially in this testing ground.
