BACKING BAND was the surprise winner of a Kilbeggan maiden and doesn't look badly treated for his handicap debut which will be just his fourth start over timber. Swelltime has gone close on the Flat since a couple of fair runs over timber in May while Romella, who completed a hat-trick last year, was in touch for a long way when tackling an extended 2m2f on her reappearance at Ballinrobe. Sequoiaspirit's second at Limerick in April puts him in the frame but he hasn't been showing much on the Flat.
