Verdict

THE LUTE PLAYER finished lame on his debut last summer and didn't reappear until Navan last month when looking in need of the run. He did well to finish third and normal progress can see him off the mark. Blues Emperor has been gelded since a promising start at Dundalk in December while Footsteps In Qatar chased home a couple of smart ones on that same track in July. Gambe Veloci, a half-brother to five winners, was staying on strongly over this trip at Leopardstown so looks a major threat while Theodulus is the type to improve from his run on the latter track. Pollanassa was staying on nicely at Tipperary and is another to note.
