In depth

Verdict

With the best part of three days racing having taken place here already, the ground will be well poached up on the inside of the track so it may pay to stick with something drawn off the rails. One who fits the bill nicely is Roxanne Mill, who handles give underfoot and has become well treated on the best of her form, having not won since defeating The Tatling in a handicap at Yarmouth, just over a year ago. She will be suited by the likely strong pace and is taken to gain an overdue success. Strensall comes here at the top of his form, but there is a suspicion he needs to hear his feet rattle, while course and distance winner Time N Time Again is 18lbs lower than when beating Proud Boast here over two years ago. Charlie Parkes and Pax have it all to do from their outside draws, while Dancing Mystery (rated 104 at best) is clearly nowhere near the animal she was. Palanzo, like Dancing Mystery, continues to tumble down the weights, but he hasn't won since handing out weight and a beating to both Type One and Orientor, over two years ago off a mark of 102. Brigadore has been disappointing since winning at Ayr last month and this looks too competitive for him, while speedball Floppie Disk has been done no favours by the draw and the easing of the ground. With so many if's and but's with the majority of these Roxanne Mill should give us a decent run for our money, at a decent price.
