Last years winner Supremacy looks to have plenty to prove as he hasn't beaten a horse home in two outings this year, so he is passed over and a chance is taken with King's Thought, who on the face of it looks to have plenty to do off this 10lbs higher mark than when successful at Newmarket, but he looks a resolute galloper, who may well find the necessary improvement for the step up in trip. Compton Bolter has faced some stiff tasks of late and this is no different, although he is effective on the ground. Ebor runner-up Sun Bird has more to do off a career high mark, while Bourgeois isn't straightforward and is easily passed over. Hillbre Island isn't guaranteed to stay this far, but Double Obsession will relish this test and must go well. However, King's Thought will be able to dictate his own pace and is taken to continue his upward curve.
