Verdict
Favourites have a got a poor record in this contest with only last year's 'jolly' obliging in the past seven runnings, so we will look outside the box with DOCTOR PARKES. Eric Alston's string is in reasonable form and his Diktat gelding already has a course and distance win to his name, which was last year from 6lb lower than today. Any ground with good in the description suits and he has the inside rail to help. Falasteen is 3lb higher than a recent Ascot win and has scored here from a higher mark, though the draw has not been kind, while Mr Wolf will need to be better than he has been since 2006 to win from this mark. Tasmeem and Mey Blossom are both in good heart but will need to get out well from their respective draws and we prescribe Doctor Parkes.
