On previous runs Theola may prefer a longer trip whilst Monte Cavallo has shown a liking for this sort of distance over in South Africa and Simonside put in an improved effort last time but we take a tentative punt on RARE RUBY. The selection was three lengths behind the winner at Nottingham last time when starting as favourite but was conceding a stone in weight that day. The six-year-old mare showed she could win at this sort of trip almost a year ago to the day and the ground isn't a concern after she won back in May with these conditions. It is interesting that Theola drops in trip having shown her best performances over further. Monte Cavallo hasn't performed as well in the UK as his efforts in South Africa but he will appreciate the increased trip. He has been slowly in to his stride in his last couple of outings and if he had started better last time he may have been in contention for the major honours at Newmarket. With a better run today he could be a danger to the pick. Simonside wasn't far behind the victor at Newcastle when last seen and could play a part. We go with Rare Ruby to put in a sparkling performance and grab the victory.
