Last season's Arc fourth Acropolis edges a narrow verdict over Day Flight, while Lochbuie and Distinction can scrap it out as the best of the rest in an intriguing contest. Distinction ran a blinder when to finish sixth in last season's Melbourne Cup, so obviously has nothing to fear from this trip. The son of Danehill has a good cruising speed and is capable of making this a good test. He looks an each-way steal if the dead eight stand their ground and the prices permit a small investment. Lochbuie also has place claims on a line through Compton Bolter, but he does have to step his game up a gear in this company. Day Flight has won his last two starts in good style and is progressive enough to play a leading role here. John Gosden rates the son of Sadler's Wells as a live contender for further honours this term and obviously thinks there is more to come from his charge. However, he does step into the known regarding the trip today and again has something to prove. Especially if Acropolis puts in anything like his best. The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt was only three lengths adrift of the mighty Bago at Longchamp last October and sets an impressive standard for the rest today.
