In depth

Verdict

Not the best turnout for the maiden but an interesting race for all that, and the selection goes to Mountain High ahead of Heart Stopping and, possibly, High Arctic. Sir Michael Stoute and Kieren Fallon team up once again in this race with the Wood Ditton third, Mountain High. That race has produced a mixture of results but this colt, who is a half-brother to Islington, Greek Dance and Election Day, looks a colt of real promise and we make him the selection here. Almansoor did not show too much on his debut but the Sadler's Wells colt is likely to improve on this easier going. However, the stable probably has a stronger entry in the Heart Stopping, who is sure to improve at today's trip after showing promise on her sole start last season. By Pivotal out of a Slip Anchor mare, High Arctic is nicely bred and will be interesting to see if there is market support for this locally-trained colt on his debut. However, for the winner, we are more than happy to side with Mountain High.
