In depth

Verdict

Esprit De Somoza makes a belated debut on the Flat but he is a dual hurdles winner and has won a jumpers’ bumper this year. King Triton has been gelded last month’s first run at Kempton, where he met trouble in-running. He’s a likely improver but Auriferous was possibly flattered by his proximity to Otyraar at the same track. TALBEYAH, who cost $310,000 as a yearling, missed the break at Wolverhampton in November and wasn’t given a hard time. She will have learned plenty from that and is the type to make a decent three-year-old.
