Something of a puzzle with course winners clashing in the best contest on the card. One without a course victory is EULA VARNER who hasn't been seen since landing a Salisbury handicap nearly a year ago in most taking fashion. She's obviously had issues to not have been active during that period but hopefully all is now well and she's a chance worth taking against exposed handicappers. Bungee Jump has a good record here but has it to do at the weights and Sir Roderic looks a stronger option as chief danger to the selection, although a case can be made for many, including the in-form Rock of Estonia, recent course second The Establishment and back-to-form course and distance scorer Air Of York.
Bungee Jump (IRE) 17-2 (9-8) Made all, shaken up over 2f out, clear inside final furlong, pushed out, won at Chepstow 6f hcp (4) gf in May beating Great Midge (9-7) by 2l, 10 ran.
Rock of Estonia (IRE) 7-2jfav (9-3) Keen tracked far side leader, switched to centre group over 2f out, soon chased leader, ridden and every chance inside final furlong, not quicken close home, 2nd of 8, 1/2l behind Glenn Coco (9-9) at Newmarket 7f hcp (4) gf in May.
Eula Varner 7-1 (9-6) Slowly into stride and squeezed out after start, held up and behind, smooth headway on outside over 2f out, led over 1f out, ran on well, won at Salisbury 7f hcp fll (5) gf in Jun beating Indiscretion (9-5) by 4l, 10 ran.
Kenstone (FR) 25-1 (9-6) Last pair, never on terms, 7th of 9, 7 1/4l behind Simoon (9-6) at Windsor 1m 2f hcp (4) gd in May.
Sir Roderic (IRE) 9-2 (10-4) Held up, headway over 2f out, ridden and kept on same pace final furlong, 4th of 8, 4l behind Citron Major (11-3) at York 7f hcp (3) gf in May.
Bristol Missile (USA) 7-1 (9-0) Chased leaders, weakened over 2f out, last of 17, 32 3/4l behind Wind In My Sails (9-7) at Newbury 1m hcp (5) gd in May.
Air Of York (IRE) 6-1 (9-7) Held up, headway over 2f out, chased leaders over 1f out, kept on under pressure, 3rd of 9, 1 3/4l behind Raincall (9-7) at Salisbury 6f hcp (6) gf in May.
Another Boy 8-1 (9-4) Outpaced towards rear, never on terms, 11th of 13, 12l behind Real Estate (9-7) at Windsor 6f hcp (5) gd in May.
The Establishment 17-2 (9-7) Prominent, ridden over 1f out, went 2nd entering final furlong, no impression on winner, kept on, 2nd of 14, 2l behind Major Valentine (9-4) at Chepstow 6f hcp (5) gf in May.
Kodiline (IRE) 10-1 (9-3) With leader, ridden and lost place over 1f out, 7th of 11, 9 1/4l behind Keepup Kevin (9-5) at Beverley 7f hcp (5) gs in May.
