This is a competitive event with Reigning Monarch selected ahead of Millfield and Moon Forest. Let's run through a few of these. Bold Cross won a modest event quite tidily at Wolverhampton last time but, overall, does not look too badly handicapped under his penalty. Millfield is due to go up by three pounds following a Brighton win and a solid Wolverhampton effort so he is afforded respect. Convince's only win since 2005 came in a seller but his April and May form would not rule him out, while Reigning Monarch came good at Lingfield two runs ago over six furlongs and a modest draw did not help his chances last time at the same venue. He can go well as he steps up in trip today. Memphis Marie was dropped in trip and backed before winning last time and should be open to further improvement, while the course and distance winner Moon Forest would hold a solid-enough chance if anywhere near his best 2006 form. Of the others, Chalentina could be given a squeak based on summer 2006 form, Vogarth is lightly raced and has shown promise in maidens, Tilsworth Charlie is due to go up three pounds following his Yarmouth effort, so this quirky type cannot be ruled out, and Cerulean Rose looked to be coming to hand last time, although she has to prove herself at today's trip. As we say, it's competitive with the selection being Reigning Monarch.
