Verdict

Spiritofthegames travelled strongly for a long way at Chepstow last month and finished ahead of both Perfect Man and Copperhead. The Bosses Oscar hails from the yard that’s won this in the last three years and he was only a length behind Dandy Mag at Leopardstown in December – there is little between the pair on today’s terms. Potters Hedger stayed on well to win at Haydock in January but was only fifth on a return visit behind the much-improved Bushypark. The eye-catcher that day, however, was runner-up CHAMPAGNE PLATINUM, who wasn’t given a hard time up the home straight. He is 11lb better off with the winner and should again beat third Everglow. Brinkley is a stayer on an upward curve and Storm Arising also arrives in top form while the unexposed Milliner is definitely worth a market check at the foot of the weights. Imperial Alcazar had something to spare over Mr Harp and Come On Teddy in a qualifier at Warwick and Southfield Harvest was probably a bit unlucky at Newbury last time and gets cheekpieces. Mrs Milner, second in a Listed handicap here in November, and Anything Will Do are others who would have a chance on their best form in a wide-open renewal.
