Verdict

Sir Allen beat several of these at Naas last month but is considerably worse off at the weights with the likes of Morning Soldier, BYKER and Jazzy Matty. Charles Byrnes’ charge was finishing best of all that day and his Flat speed could be decisive here if he can lie up with the early pace as he has a very accomplished 5lb claimer on board and easily beat Mighty Mo Missouri, Gordons Aura and Zanndabad at Naas in January. Perseus Way was a bit unlucky in a Grade 2 at Kempton last month when beaten by a good yardstick. He’d beaten subsequent winner Samuel Spade by three lengths at Huntingdon earlier but the runner-up is now 14lb better off and his yard also run well-regarded French import Bad. Afadil beat Fils De Roi and Shared at Musselburgh last month and took the scenic route when well beaten at Haydock subsequently. Paul Nicholls has a good record in this contest so he shouldn’t be ignored while the progressive Tekao will also have his supporters in a wide-open renewal.
