Verdict

Remastered blotted his copybook over hurdles last time but did have several of these behind when runner-up to Le Milos in the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury in November. CORACH RAMBLER finished fourth that day, running on strongly up the home straight having got behind in the early stages. He also came from out of the clouds when landing this 12 months ago and the race has been the target again this season, though he does have 6lb more to carry. The Big Breakaway looks a serious contender with the ground riding soft having finished second twice in similar conditions this season – he’ll be staying on when others have cried enough. Fanion D'Estruval is proving frustrating to follow but stablemate Laskalin could have each-way claims if forgiven a poor run at Ascot, where Lucy Turner took the scenic route, while Fastorslow was just beaten over hurdles at The Festival last year and has been highly tried so far over fences, though there has been no Irish-trained winner of this for 35 years. Karl Philippe and Nassalam aren’t out of this if their stamina holds up and Into Overdrive proved a revelation last year. The novice Monbeg Genius also has a squeak but The Goffer may struggle to last home on this testing track.
