Only five runners but both Oyster Card and King Julien run from out of the weights so MASTERSON looks to have every chance of going in again in this company. The latter returned to the Flat with a cosy win over 2m here and can shrug off a 6lb penalty. The veteran Soundbyte won an amateurs’ race over today’s trip at Nottingham last year but The Lampo Genie looks no nearer getting his head back in front despite a steady slide down the weights.

The Lampo Genie 18-1 (9-10) Slowly into stride, raced keenly, held up towards rear, pushed along 3f out, ridden and some headway on inside over 1f out, soon no impression, 8th of 11, 6 1/4l behind Monjeni (9-6) at Wolverhampton 1m 6f hcp (6) pol in Mar.
Soundbyte 16-1 (9-2) Held up in rear, ridden over 2f out, stayed on from over 1f out, went 4th close home, 4th of 14, 2 3/4l behind Par Three (9-4) at Chelmsford City 1m 5f hcp (6) pol in Mar.
