In depth

Verdict

A gap appeared at the right time for PROCEDURE (NAP) at Ascot last week and Sir Michael Stoute’s filly took the opportunity well to win a shade cosily. She’s taken to defy a 7lb rise today and confirm latest running with Queen In Waiting with more to come from her. But the handicapper may have caught up with Alsvinder, who landed a hat-trick before beaten at Haydock last time, while Midnight Malibu has been raised a further 6lb for winning at Ripon recently. This is tougher than the sprint Something Lucky won over track and trip last month but Verne Castle is capable at this level if back to his best.
