In depth

Verdict

A moderate affair in which Go Amwell rates a token selection ahead of Ha'Penny Beacon and True. The selection probably found the soft going against him at Goodwood last time out but he brings into this race the virtue of winning form over trip and going and this could be enough in this distinctly "end of term race". Ha'Penny Beacon put up a fair effort to be second to McQueen at the track over 1m6f. The filly did beat a number of these rivals on the day and wasn't stopping at the finish. Among those rivals was True. Sue Lamyman's charge got going when it was much too late and may find significant improvement for this step up. Dance Sauvage is arguably worth a try over this trip although he has become a very frustrating maiden. Calatagan is probably been prepared with the National Hunt game in mind but should have come on for a run over an inadequate trip. Merrymaker does not appeal as the most obvious of two milers on the level whilst Group Force has traditionally put up his better performances at the end of the season and is one to watch in the market. Cripsey Brook has dropped in the weights after recording two victories at the beginning of the season but today's trip has to be a major worry. A distinctly back end feel to this race and Go Amwell rates the pick.
