The in-form SPIDER'S STAR can confirm the Pontefract form with Casual Garcia and gain more profit from what has already been a profitable season for the six-year-old mare. Harcas and Sir Sandicliffe are others with solid claims at this level. Sir Sandicliffe's solitary win on turf came at Catterick last October, so he obviously has nothing to fear from the course. He does, however, appear to lack the will to win, so cannot be backed with maximum confidence. Harcas is capable under both codes of racing and is likely to appreciate the ground. He responded well to racing in a visor to win at Redcar 18 days ago and, assuming the headgear has the same effect; he can go close again today. A 4lb higher mark looks fair and bold effort is expected from Martin Todhunter's charge. Casual Garcia has made very little progress this season and appears to have a lot on his plate under top weight this afternoon. He did show a glimpse of interest behind the selection at Pontefract 10 days ago, so would be dangerous to dismiss completely. However, Spider's Star does appear to be on a roll at the moment and the Sheena West-trained mare is taken as the one to beat again today.
