Verdict

While it is worrying that Tom Dascombe starts Gertmegalush in this grade he has the pedigree to suggest that he can get closely involved with the yard going well, but preference is for VILNIUS. Mick Channon keeps turning out the odd winner and this Imperial Dancer filly should benefit from a decent first outing when running well enough behind Chicita Banana. The winner has come out and run well again since to suggest that, in context the form is solid enough, and with improvement to come we will side with her. Tom Dascombe has his string firing on all cylinders and Gertmegalush is certainly respected and would become more interesting if supported. Transfixed won a Warwick seller for David Evans last week so does at least know how to win and should be another leading player, though he has to concede weight now. Ruth Carr and David Barron both head up yards in form, although it is hard to see the former's Nidamar being good enough today on the evidence of her debut, while newcomer More For Less is well related and would not be a shock scorer in this company. Vilnius is taken to do the job today.
