Three for the short list here are Simple Jim, Bert's Memory and SIR SANDICLIFFE and the last-named can score. Mark Brisbourne's five-year-old does not find winning easy, having obliged just once on turf and once on artificial surfaces in a 42-race career, but there are enough doubts about the others to believe he can take this. This track was the scene of his sole turf win, he acts on any ground, and he is on a handy-enough mark. Bert's Memory has enough solid form to see him involved, but the nagging doubt with him is over stamina at this longer trip, although it might just be the making of him. Bridgewater Boys is one for serious consideration, and he has thrived since being sent over distances longer than his pedigree suggests he would be effective. Fast ground suits and he has more claim than most. James Hetherton's Simple Jim was a winner over this trip and on similar ground at Redcar last time and he had to work for it, so a 4lb rise makes this plenty tough enough in his follow-up bid. Fenners stays well and handles the ground, so from this mark he has a squeak of reversing Redcar placings with Simple Jim. Hernando's Boy likes it here and on this ground, so from just above a winning mark he could make them all go, but Sir Sandicliffe gets the nod.
