Falpiase is selected here ahead of Thewhirlingdervish and Indonesia. Lightly-raced, Falpiase enjoyed the step up in trip last time and was beaten a whisker at Ayr. He looks competitive again from a two-pounds higher mark. Thewhirlingdervish is not one that will shirk a battle and he got back to winning ways last time so comes here in form and is on a reasonable mark, while Inchnadamph excelled himself in the Cesarewitch last October but has now been well-held twice from his new mark. Fossgate is stepping up in trip so maybe has it to prove, while Mister Arjay needs to improve a little if he is to score, although he is just four pounds above a winning rating. Doctor Scott has dropped back to his winning course mark and can be fancied on that basis. Indonesia is running well and can do so again, particularly given that, working on formlines using Great As Gold, he is actually weighted to beat Thewhirlingdervish today, while Prairie Sun is on a reasonable mark based on his June Pontefract effort. Once again, though, the selection is Falpiase.
