Green Go loves it around here and is taken to get back to winning ways, with Black Smoke and Shays Lane to fill the minors. Geoff Sadik's gelding won twice in three days here at the August meeting last year, over 2m 6f and this 3m 2f trip. He prefers genuine good ground and with some rain forecast it could fall right for him. One who likes to race up with the pace, he is suited by these tight turns and can win from a mark 5lb lower than the second of those previous track successes. Black Smoke is tried here for the first time, but there is every reason to believe that he will go very well. A good to soft winner over three miles at Carlisle in April, he fell at Hexham last time when going well on his first handicap outing and will be out to make amends. We expect him to be closely involved. Shays Lane is another who should be thereabouts, on ground and a trip that he will relish and off a mark 7lb below when he beat The Merry Mason on fast ground at Hexham last year. However, with some good course and distance form in his favour, we will stick with Green Go to land the prize.
