chased leaders, chased winner from 4th, reminders approaching 11th, weakening when lost 2nd flat
chasing leaders in 4th when fell 2nd
chased winner to 4th, hit 7th and 8th, kept on from last, went 2nd run in, no chance with winner
in rear, badly hampered 2nd, soon detached, tailed off
It is hard to escape the attentions of Northern Flash but, in a weak race, we will side with Apadi. The reasoning behind selecting Apadi is that he has won from a slightly higher mark over hurdles and, although his chasing form has yet to match it, he has won here, appears to act on soft and this is a very poor race. Northern Flash runs here under a penalty following a win at Perth three days ago. That was a good effort and, provided that he shows no ill effects from that effort, looks to hold a big chance in this race. We should mention, though, that he has not always looked the most resolute in the past and was winning for the first time in 61 attempts at Perth. Much as Top Of The Dee is blinkered for the first time, he has not shown much form for a while now, and, although lightly raced and now equipped with cheekpieces, Alpha Image has also not shown much in the way of form. Merry Tina finished 22 lengths behind Northern Flash in that Perth race so, inn conclusion in what is, as we say, a weak race, Apadi gets the call over Northern Flash.
