Crofton Arch may be able to land a competitive race in which Stravaigin and Shulmin could also feature. The selection bounced back from a spell in the doldrums with a good run at Hexham although it is a shade unfortunate that he's been handed a 6lb rise for his troubles. However, he's raced from higher marks in the past and has finished in the first two on both visits here and looks sure to give a good account of himself. Stravaigin has gone up by 9lbs for winning at Perth over three miles but she hasn't got too many miles on the clock and is equally effective at this shorter trip. She's a must for the short-list. Shulmin was below par last time but she has been enjoying a decent run of form since joining her new yard. The handicapper has acted accordingly but she has shown a likeable attitude and is capable of having a say in the outcome if she can bounce back to form. A few in this field could have a say if at their best but Crofton Arch looks sure to run a big race and is selected.
