Boruma was successful twice here last summer but that was on a much different surface. He was well beaten on his only previous run on fast ground so looks worth opposing. Allfredandnobell won on soft going at Wetherby in March and it was good ground when he beat VOLCANIC here at the end of May. But Donald McCain’s stayer is now 3lb better off and entitled to turn the tables – this unconventional track appears to appeal to the latter’s quirky nature. Shazzamataz got off the mark at Kempton in May but the second has failed to frank the form and Friday’s winner Golden Town steps up massively in trip.
