In depth

Verdict

Traditionally a competitive contest and this year is no exception, with Fen Gypsy taken to reverse recent course form with Gifted Flame, while Top Dirham, It's Our Secret and Tony Tie should be thereabouts. The selection finished second to Gifted Flame over 7f here last week but is 5lb better off now for one and as half lengths. That, together with an extra furlong being the optimum trip for Fen Gypsy, means that he gets the vote. Gifted Flame's effort here suggested that there may still be more to come and despite the penalty he will be no back number. He can fight out the places with Top Dirham, who had two lengths to spare over him at Thirsk last month and is also penalised here. Others to consider are It's Our Secret, who won at Goodwood last time and gets this trip well and Tony Tie, who is plummeting through the weights and has been given a chance by the handicapper, but the selection is Fen Gypsy.
