      Verdict

      CONTREBASSE returned to winning from at Haydock after a few near misses and clearly relishes a stamina test as he dug in deeply to outpoint Nuits St Georges when scoring. It's a little surprising to see him back in trip and David Allan may set out to make this a real test as there are also no ground issues surrounding the Easterby gelding. Grenadier Guard and Navajo Pass are interesting three-year-old stayers who are progressing well and there's little between them on the book. It would be dangerous to ignore Celestial Force off topweight and Beechwood Jude tackles this longer trip for the first time.
